About Us

Working in partnership with the local authority we support member organisations of the forum. Various consultation methods are used to bring a broader and stronger view from communities in Walsall, where People with disabilities and impairments live and work.

Consultation undertaken highlighted the issues of local disabled and impaired people, enabling service delivery to be improved, thus enhancing the quality of life and independence for people with disabilities and impairments.

We continue to work in partnership with the local authority; this has helped to increase the council's star rating following this years inspection for service delivery.

The Walsall Disability Forum has representation in the following areas:

 Integrated Community Equipment Store Operational Group (ICES)

  this group looks at the delivery of aids, equipment and adaptations.

 Physical and Sensory Impairment Board (PSIB), this board discusses general and specialist areas of new and current service delivery areas including consultations and communication. Long Term Neurological Conditions Operational Group (LTNCOG), this group has representatives from Health, Social Care, Disability Forum and Specialist Hospital service areas that discuss, develop and challenge areas of service for patients with conditions like Aquired Brain injury, Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis etc. This group has developed a LTNC team that now delivers a high quality service.  Shopmobilty Management Board (SMB) The shopmobility board meets on a regular basis to discuss efficiency and effectiveness of its delivery to people with mobility restricted disabilties, these include Arthritis, Epilepsy, Physical Disabilties, Multiple Sclerosis, Old age and many more. The board has representatives from the local authority, Disability Forum, Arthritis Care, Age Concern and the Centre for Independent Living.
